Meet Your Skin Specialist
I’ve been in the beauty industry for twelve years. It all started when my family opened a salon in Baltimore. At 18, I started out managing the family business and conversing with customers. Then the business took off, and I had to step in and provide services for customers. And that was when I started building regular clients.
As I studied business in college, I stayed in the spa business, but had to work at a place closer to home and college. I was quickly able to build steady clients again, and this paid for my college education. I worked at several upscale salons and day spas, and earned a bachelors degree in Business. After college, I had many job offers, and took a break from the beauty industry. During this time away though, I realized how much I loved working with my clients – seeing them on a consistent basis, and helping them to look and feel better. I really do love this part, and finding new treatments to help them.
However, there was one aspect of the spa industry I didn’t like. And that was not being in control of the environment, the total experience. Not owning the spas I worked in, my advice to the owners didn’t have to be taken. My husband reminded me of all the trips in and out of the country, including New Zealand—how I had facials at each and every destination in part to expand my knowledge and skills. Yet, I hate to say it – even at superb destinations – the total experience was a bit of a disappointment. They were all very exotic and soothing for the senses, but not one thoroughly treated my skin, nor took enough time to really understand it. For me, treating and helping clients understand their skin is the most important thing. Well, my husband was tired of my complaints and thought it was time I take control and so Little Oasis was created. We created a little escape from the city – complete with a pond and waterfalls. It was the best decision I ever made. I hope you agree.
